MOVE UTAH
ACTIVE • HEALTHY • CONNECTED COMMUNITIES
EXCITING UPDATES FROM UDOT: STREAMLINING COORDINATION FOR A BETTER ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION NETWORK!
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is working to make coordination and collaboration on active transportation data, even easier across our state.
UDOT Planning, alongside the Trails and Rural Transit Divisions and external partners, is creating a streamlined process to collect and share data. We’ll be gathering data through a GIS mapping layer, which will reduce the need for repeated requests.
You can expect our first request to come via email, with clear instructions on how to share your data. Going forward, future requests will be much simpler—focused on just any updates or changes.
Once the data is collected, this mapping resource will be available to communities across Utah to assist with planning, projects, engagement, and funding applications. This effort will help paint a clearer picture of Active Transportation throughout the state, and we’re excited to continue working together to keep people moving!
Stay tuned for more details, and thank you for being part of this important initiative!
WHAT IS MOVE UTAH?
Move Utah is a walking, biking and community planning program operated by the Utah Department of Transportation. The program is a collaboration with partner agencies, including the Utah Department of Health, Department of Public Safety, Utah Highway Patrol, Utah Transit Authority and organizations like Bike Utah. We engage and empower local communities to consider and embrace walking, biking and other active modes through planning, events, education and infrastructure development.
WHY ARE WALKING, BIKING AND OTHER ACTIVE MODES IMPORTANT?
Collaborating with our partners, we promote respect and safety on Utah’s roadways through education, encouragement and infrastructure development. This program and its partners support walking and biking planning efforts by providing guidance, tools and resources that can assist communities in reaching their active transportation goals and visions. We aim to keep Utah moving by inspiring healthy, active and connected communities.
